The ground and the access
Vourvoulos sits on the east coast north of Fira, running from the road down toward a small beach. The village includes both open ground and sheltered ravine plots, which offer noticeably better wind protection than the exposed coast.
Access is reasonable through most of the village — not the unconstrained access of Messaria, but far removed from the caldera settlements. The ground is inland volcanic deposit, established by trial pit as everywhere.
The character is genuinely residential. This is a village where people live year-round rather than a tourist settlement, which changes both the type of work and the working environment: neighbours are permanent, and a programme that runs through the season affects people's homes rather than their businesses.

Is there cave stock here?
